What type of flag football is VFA Flag Football?
- VFA will offer three age groups for flag football this season provided that registration
numbers are high enough to support all three divisions
- 5/6 Year Old - Can not turn seven before 12/30/2011
- 7/8/9 Year Old - Can not turn ten before 12/30/2011
- 10/11/12 Year Old - Can not turn thirteen before 12/30/2011
- Coaches will be allowed to bring their own team. All coaches must be approved
by the VFA board and get a St. Johns County Parks & Recreation badge.
If a coach brings his own team:
- The league can place additional players on these teams up to 11 players if needed
- Players can register individually and will be placed on a team through the general
draft
- Rules will generally follow the college intramural flag football rules.
When is VFA Flag Football?
- Practices in December will be on the first three Saturdays (3rd, 10th, 17th).
Coaches will be alotted two hour practice slots on each of these days.
- Beginning Monday, January 2nd, teams will practice one weekday evening per week
for one hour.
- Each team will play eight regular season games on the following Saturdays: 1/7,
1/14, 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25
- Playoffs will begin on March 3rd
Where is VFA Flag Football?
- Games will be played at Pacetti Bay Middle School
- Saturday practices in December will be at Fields in the World Golf Village Area
or Palencia
- Evening practices will be at Palencia Park or Mill Creek Elementary
How much is VFA Flag Football?
- Registration Fees are $99 per participant and $75 for each additional sibling registered
How can I volunteer to be a coach or help out in any other capacity?
- Please send an email to football@vfapanthers.org.
- All coaches are required to have a current St Johns County Parks and Recreation
badge. If you have a badge that was issued to you from another sport (ie..Tackle
Football, baseball, etc...) that badge will suffice. If you do not have a
badge, please send an email to football@vfapanthers.org
so that we can collect appropriate information to run a background check.
You will also need an NAYS coaching certificate or equivalent. You can take
an online training course to get an NAYS coaching certificate by clicking here.
What about refunds?
- After practices begin, partial refunds will be given through December 23rd.

How can I become a Flag Official?
- VFA Flag referees must be 15 years old or older.
